Bulky - "Yenny"

from $38.00

Small batch order of solid black Icelandic wool made with two lamb fleeces.

This wool yarn is grown, shorn, and spun in Southeastern North Dakota. Sourced from Grand Valley Icelandics sheep flock, shorn by a North Dakota shearer on our farmstead, and spun by The Yarn Factory located in Colfax, North Dakota.

Icelandic sheep are dual coated, meaning they have a softer inner wool and a longer, courser outer wool. These skeins have both wool types spun together, creating a durable, strong, and weather resistant yarn that is well used in projects like hats, gloves/mittens, blankets, outer layer clothing items, sweaters, knit felted projects, rug weaving, and other functional items.

Each batch of yarn represents an individual sheep or a combination of two or more sheep of similar color. With the dynamic variety of patterns and colors Icelandic sheep express, we are able to create a beautiful palette of natural color options in unique, small batch quantities.
